To make the cursor a custom image, use this code. Place it in all of your Headers.
<style> <!-- BODY{ CURSOR: url(http://www.YOURHOST.com/cursorname.cur); } --> </style>

when it says your host does it mean you have to find the link for the cursor or does it just change

That's the place where you need to insert the URL of the pic that you want to replace the default cursor with... An example would be... 4d5.net/boardimages/cry.gif

It also has to be your own host. You can't just find the link to the image and use it, you have to save the image to your computer, upload it to a host like ripway.com and use that link instead. Remember, it can't be a .gif image or a .jpg it has to be a .cur

Yeah, but you can hot link from another site, if it's okay with the webmaster that is... And I was just thinking that you might want to let people know how to convert a .gif or a .jpg to a .cur file type... Just a thought... Since it has to be like that in order for it to work...

It's rare that a webmaster would allow someone to hotlink from their site, and most people wouldn't know where to begin on how to get that permission. It's a safe bet just to host it yourself. I honestly don't know how to convert them, other than doing a search on google for a converter. Do you know of an easy way to do it?

Nah... Actually I don't, I was just wondering if you did... But the thing is, is that the webmaster wouldn't be too happy if you took his image anyways, and hosted it yourself... That's why it's better to hotlink, than to get an angry message, or lawsuit... At least with hotlinking people know that you didn't create the image... And you'd be surprised on how many people would allow you to hotlink... And if you need permission, you would just have to contact the webmaster via e-mail... As long as you ask them nicely for the pic, I'm sure that they'd let you use it...

That's true, the image itself can't be copyrighted, but when it comes to .cur files, usually a search on google is how most people get them, and those are usually free for taking (not necessarily hotlinking, just using).
When a ProBoards TOS violation is issued, they look to see where you got the image, and if they see that it's linked from site (hotlinked), they'll ask you to remove it within 72 hours, no questions asked.
If you have permission to use the image, you'll have to make a post in Support explaining it to the Admins, but it's a big hassle. It's best to just host it yourself.

Yes, you have a valid point... But as long as people are careful... There shouldn't be any problems...

I'm pretty sure that's just an animated cursor file, but it's still good to know.
